Woodside is a small incorporated town in San Mateo County, known as one of the wealthiest small towns in the United States. Many of Woodside’s signature manors are situated on huge parcels of land, where many residents own horses and enjoy riding along the numerous public trails. Devoted to enabling locals to “escape it all”, Woodside maintains an intentionally small business district and a scattering of other hometown businesses, including a Michelin starred restaurant. Woodside’s sweeping open space preserves are a favorite of cyclists, who enjoy the challenge of its winding roads and sloping hills. Noteworthy residents have included Neil Young, who owns an enormous ranch complete with recording studio, and Steve Jobs.
